**Mr. Ricardo Hernandez works with our students to help them plan for college after high school, including applying to take the ACT/SAT, applying for scholarships and tips for getting good grades. He takes students on trips to visit local college campuses and also helps them to fill out college applications. If you are interested in working with Mr. Hernandez, please see someone in the attendance office for an application. Mr. Hernandez is here on most Thursdays.

Counseling & Guidance Department services

*Post Secondary Counseling – Counselors work with students individually and in the classroom on post- secondary planning, PSAT preparation, SAT/ACT preparation, scholarships, and application processes.

*Educational Planning – Counselors work with students in the classroom and individually on scheduling of classes, remediation of failing classes, and how to succeed in high school.

*Personal Counseling – Counselors are available to work with students on personal problems and provide students with outside counseling resources when needed.

*Education Career Action Plan (ECAP) Counseling – Starting in 7th grade through 12th grade the Counselors have the students develop an “Education Action Plan” using the Arizona Career Information Systems website.

  • Graduate in the top 10% of the class
  • Demonstrate the level of “exceeding” on all AIMS exams.
  • Maintain a minimum of 4 courses during their senior year
    • 3 of which are core academic, vocational, or arts education classes
  • Have no unexcused absences, referrals for discipline or tardies in their junior or senior years.

Students who have met these requirements will be recognized by gold medals and special seals on their diplomas and “Graduation with Distinction” will be indicated on their transcripts.
